Chocolate Whipped Mousse

Dips are delicious. They just are. When you choose to make healthier decisions about your eating habits, dips are some of the first things to go, and planning for potluck-style parties can be difficult! We work to be gluten and dairy free in our own home, so we love this mousse-inspired dip to take to potlucks, for dessert, or for Mom’s Night Outs at our office! (Sometimes we’ll even throw it in the freezer overnight and our kids LOVE eating “ice cream” the next day!). Adapted from this recipe by The Nourishing Gourmet, our recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, and Paleo-friendly!Gluten-free, dairy-free Dessert

  • 1-14oz can of full-fat coconut milk (unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (we love our syrup from Highland County!)
  • 1 heaping T cocoa powder
  • 1 t vanilla extract

Put can of coconut milk in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours to separate liquid and fat. Open can and drain liquid. Put solid coconut fat in a bowl. Add maple syrup, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract and combine with hand mixer until “mousse” becomes light and fluffy! Serve with fruit (we love it with strawberries!).

Not a fan of chocolate? Neither is Dr. Andrew! Follow the same recipe above and leave out the cocoa powder for a delicious whipped cream!
